I’ve been a Knight for a little more than 15 years. It's a great organization, but also so much more. Through the Knights of Columbus, I’ve grown in my faith and put that faith into action.
Pope St. John Paul II called the Knights of Columbus "the strong right arm of the church." From the international level down to the national, state, and local councils, the Knights are actively building the Kingdom of God.
This can be seen in Poland at Ukrainian refugee camps where the Knights have dedicated $20 million in humanitarian aid. It can be seen at the McGivney House in Erbil, Iraq, where Christian families have a safe place to stay and re-establish themselves in a war-torn region.
It can be seen in Haiti, where the Knights provide wheelchairs and essential services for people with disabilities. It can be seen in the Philippines, where councils provide food and repairs in storm-damaged towns. It can be seen in towns across America where local councils provide coats for kids, assist at Special Olympic events, March for Life, and serve at parishes.
As you can see, there’s much Knights do. Wherever you are in life, I'm sure you will find something valuable in the Knights of Columbus.
You can also learn more about the Knights by observing our initiation ceremony, The Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, on Saturday, February 11, after the 4:30 Vigil Mass, followed by a light reception.
This used to be a secret ceremony but is now open to the public. Any Catholic man 18 years or older can join the Knights as a candidate in the ceremony. If you’re considering joining the Knights of Columbus, this is your opportunity.
