The church celebrates Black Catholic History Month in November to recognize the history, heritage, and contributions of Black Catholics to the Catholic Church.
The National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus of the United States designated November for this celebration in 1990 because it includes important dates for Catholics of African descent.
Black Catholics History Month coincides with the feasts of All Saints’ Day (November 1), All Souls’ Day (November 2), St Martin de Porres (November 3), and the birth of St. Augustine (November 13).
