Imitating Mother Teresa's dedication to caring for those in need, we'll collect donations for the Durham Community Food Pantry on September 2 and 3 to celebrate our patron saint's feast day.
This collection will be for groceries and hygiene products. (See the list below.)
Please bring your donations when you come to Mass and look for the DCFP truck in the main parking lot or the collection bin at the alternate parking lot.
You can also make monetary donations that go a long way towards purchasing bulk warehouse quantities at low prices and help cover pantry expense items like maintenance and gas for the DCFP food truck.
Please consider a cash donation, a check payable to Durham Community Food Pantry, or use WeShare.
We also need volunteers before and after Mass to help with set-up, carrying collections from donors’ cars, loading and sorting at the truck, collecting monetary donations, and helping with traffic flow. Sign up here for a fantastic service opportunity for young and old alike.
DCFP addresses food insecurity in Durham and Orange counties. It’s part of a network of food pantries run by Catholic Charities across the Diocese of Raleigh. The two largest are DCFP, 15 miles away in Durham, and Catholic Parish Outreach (CPO), 25 miles away in northeast Raleigh.
The DCFP pantry is in southwest Durham, an area of core poverty only 15 miles from Mother Teresa Church and the relative affluence of the nearby communities.
Supporting our DCFP food drive gives all of us a way of following in the spirit of Mother Teresa to help nearby neighbors in need with great love.
The pantry’s food assistance program is a collaborative effort engaging multiple partners, including parish partners like Mother Teresa and community partners like the Carolina Preserve Newman Club.
