TheĀ Salvation Army of Wake County desperately needs bedding for the White Flag shelters it operates for homeless families this winter. They need extra towels, blankets, and sheets in all sizes, new or gently used and clean. Drop off your contributions in the narthex bins when you come to Mass on January 11 and 12.
The shelters provide a warm place to sleep, especially when the temperature and wind chill are forecasted to be below 35 degrees. One family shelter is currently open daily at 5:30 p.m. to provide a place to rest for 100 people, in addition to the 100 actual residents, serving about 200 people nightly.
Please sign up below if you want to help collect donations at Mass or deliver them during the week. In the spirit of Mother Teresa, the Mercy Minsitry thanks you for your generosity to families seeking overnight shelter from the cold.
