Catechetical Sunday, September 15, is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on each person's role by baptism in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. The theme, "Lord, when did we see you hungry" (Matthew 25:37), reflects our call to missionary discipleship.
Our Faith Formation families and coordinators will receive a special blessing at 8:30 a.m. Catechetical Sunday Mass as they embark on their ministry. Please continue to assist and pray for them as they begin a new school year.
St John Paul II reminded us that the universal call to holiness is closely linked to the universal call to mission. Every member of the faithful is called to holiness and to mission. We are called to be eucharist by word and action to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our times cry out for this holiness, one inflamed by the ardent determination to bring as many of our brothers and sisters as possible to Christ. (U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops)
Catechetical Sunday is also an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a faith community. Our Faith Formation programs would not be possible without the generous support of volunteers from across the community.
We're genuinely grateful for all our Faith Formation families and coordinators working to pass on the faith to our children. It will take the efforts of all our families to achieve this. Our heartfelt thanks to all for helping us through prayer and support for our children to ensure this is truly a whole-family catechesis program.
